Susan Hollett, M.Sc. President
Susan Hollett is the President and owner of Hollett and Sons Inc. and leads in all research, analysis and planning projects. In addition to managing all projects and staff, Susan delights in research, facilitation, writing and planning.
Susan's educational background includes:
- Master of Science (Sea Use, Law, Economics and Policy-making) from the London School of Economics & Political Science, UK
- Honours BA in Political Science from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Before leaving to start Hollett & Sons Inc., Susan was Vice President of a provincial community and economic development agency; Executive Assistant to a provincial Cabinet Minister; and a Planner at the Marine Institute.
In addition, Hollett and Sons Inc. is very involved in our professional communities. We are a member of the following industry organizations:

Susan was one of the first recipients of the Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) Recognition Awards for "Outstanding Contribution to Women's Advancement in Business and Community Economic Development. (1998). She is the Vice President of the Provincial Advisory Council on the Status of Women and is the former Chairperson of the Premier's Council on Social Development.
Joanne Hussey, MA, Research Consultant
Joanne’s work as a Research Consultant with Hollett and Sons Inc. means she is dedicated full time to finding out the answers to our clients questions, particularly around evaluations and strategic plans. Joanne has worked as a policy analyst, research coordinator, researcher and consultant. She has experience designing and implementing research projects, facilitating focus groups, conducting environment scans and literature reviews, developing and managing public consultation strategies, designing and implementing knowledge translation strategies to move research into policy and practice, conducting evaluations, and writing reports.
Joanne’s educational background includes:
- Master's degree in Gender Studies and Social Policy (with Merit) from the University of Leeds.
- Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Mount Allison University, Nova Scotia
Joanne is based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
April Ryan, BBA Business Consultant
April’s business education and experience is applied at Hollett and Sons Inc. for our clients who are looking for market research, business case development, environmental assessments and public consultations. April has worked as a logistics co-ordinators office manager in the private sector.
